Mod_rewrite killing child processes with segfault 11

Oh, the strange things mod_rewrite does!

Mod_rewrite killing child processes with segfault 11

Getting mod_rewrite working today, I came across the problem in the subject. Going by the RewriteLog, with a non matching rule it processes fine and passes through to the appropriate file, but as soon as you get a rule that would match and rewrite to another location, you get the segfault.

Is this a known problem with a misconfigured/compiled apache/mod_rewrite, or am I likely to have hardware problems? I was getting a lot of segfaults a couple of months ago installing some packages, that coupled with the fact that mod_rewrite seems to handle non matching patterns makes me thing it may well be a hardware issue.

Any thoughts/comments are much appreciated...

how does your rule look like? which URL did you call and what should the result be?

It's not a problem with the rules/urls.
