subdomain masking

Postby altafr » Sun Apr 12, 2009 10:27 am

hi,

need some help with subdomain masking

I have two servers A[ linux ] and B[ windows] runing diff operating systems. One hosts a domain(A) with some pages
and the other (B) has some code which is required by server A

when i type a subdomain address on server A, it should get the content from server B, buit in the URL it should appear as if the content is from the same URL and server(A).

how do i accomplish this using mod_rewrite ??

For a sub domain (sub.example.com) you should use DNS to point that sub domain to the correct server IP address not mod_rewrite.

Postby altafr » Mon Apr 13, 2009 2:26 am

hi, I am in the DNS zone file editor in my cpanel and there are a number of options here:

is it the A record for * which i should be changing ? can i point to a IP address/folder instead of a IP address ? please confirm ?
(other options are www, ftp , mail and 4 @ records ???)

regards

You should look for an option to create a sub domain. Set the sub domain name and set the IP address to the IP address of the server (server B).
