mo-rewrite and robot indexing

Postby Patrick » Sun Dec 07, 2003 2:18 am

Hi, I am just starting in the mod-rewrite world

I successfuly added mod-rewrite instructions in my htaccess Postnuke site to generate html static URL. And after one day trying everything, it finaly works... 8)

Now the big question: I can type a static URL in my browser address bar and it is translated to the correct Postnuke address, this is fine.

But how does Google can index these static URL if it does not type them? Google is a robot, how can it know that I am using the mod-rewrite mechanism? Is it enough to place a mod-rewrite in my htaccess file for Google to index my static URL or is there something else to do? This is complete mystery to me... :o

I saw no explanation about that on internet. Plese enlighten me... :smile2:

You have to add the static links into your pages as well, i.e. in <a href="whatever"> you need whatever to be your static looking URLs rather than the dynamic URLs that Post-Nuke normally generates. I.e. you need to edit the Post-Nuke code to generate its links as your static looking links.
