Hidden php?

Postby Samuraid » Tue Sep 28, 2004 5:18 pm

I want to know if there is a way to hide PHP files from the open web and just link to them via mod_rewrite. I tried putting all the PHP for a site in a directory with all access disallowed with a .htaccess file and linking to them with a few mod_rewrite rules, but I just got 403 errors. Is there any way around this?

what's wrong with having .php files? Search engines can read them just as well as they read .html files.

There isn't anything wrong with directly using php files, but that's not what I was wanting.

I wanted to know if mod_rewrite could link to files that were normally restricted by a .htaccess file.

No, it can't, becouse URIs outputted from mod_rewrite are just treated like normal URIs typed into the Adressline of your Browser.
