vbulletin: change domain.com/upload/index.php to...

My community directory has an unmemorable and messy url.

Is it possible to change: www.domain.com/upload/index.php to something simpler, like:

community.domain.com ?

And can this be done entirely in htaccess without changing other code?

I'm rather bad at ModRewrite, but I do know DNS.
My guess would be no, unless MR has sorted out a way to do DNS propagation.
Use cPanel and add the subdomain community.domain.com
