Google problems

Postby pete_howell » Fri Dec 12, 2003 5:02 pm

Hello,

We currently use the following tracking URL format with various search engines:

www.MeccaHosting.us/hosting/?s=gg&k=151
www.MeccaHosting.us/email/?s=gg&k=028

However, recently Google has started sending us traffic like the following:

www.MeccaHosting.us/email/%3Fs%3Dgg%26k ... a=1&ai=AAH ...

Well, Apache generates a 404 error because it is trying to find a file called "?s=gg&k=028&sa=1&ai=AAH ...", rather than executing /email/index.php and passing the data in the $QUERY_STRING. We are losing a fair amount of business, as would anyone else that uses similiar tracking strings with Google.

I have no experience with mod_rewrite, but I'm assuming that it could be used to solve our problem. Can anyone help us with this?
