spaces in the usernames for aim

Postby mrchipps » Mon Oct 06, 2003 12:47 pm

ok I noticed this forum is without the topic of spaces in usernames, I have found many, but this site seems to have more replies than any so I will give it a shot. I have a website I am doing for my aim profile. I found out fast that if the username has spaces in it you get "error loading content" so I figured I could turn to mod_rewrites to fix this.

now I don't know too much about mod rewrites but this is what I did, a few things actually

rewriterule "\s" %20 --didn't work
rewriterule (.*)"\s"(.*) $1%20$2 --didn't work

and a few others but they aren't worth typing because they didn't work either, but those two are the most intuitive, things you would think about right away. Now I don't knwo if it is part of the host I have since this is just in my .htaccess file since it is all I can access, could a mod rewrite they have in effect for my hosting tuncate the args at the space so I can't get to it or is there an answer to all this???
