Is this possible?

Discuss practical ways rearrange URLs using mod_rewrite.

Does anyone know if it possible to rewrite a URL without it being displayed in the browser?

So, http://localhost/somethingstupid/...
becomes http://localhost/whatever/...

with user being able to see it.

I have tried going trough the ProxyPass command in the proxy module and more or less any other combination of the rewrite module.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question ... but normally, when you use mod_rewrite, the user won't notice any "rewriting" unless your rewritten URL directs to another server or you use a [R] tag at the end of your RewriteRule statement.
