re writing a few variables

i need help with rewriting a few mod rewrites.

1) is it possible to do this

http://www.domain.com/index.php?subid=1 to http://www.domain.com/cat_name_of_1

i don't mind adding a rule for each nubmer, if that is possible.

2) if the above is not possible then how would i do this

http://www.domain.com/index.php?subid=1 to http://www.domain.com/1

3) and
http://www.domain.com/articles.php?subid=1 to http://www.domain.com/articles/1

4) and the last one

http://www.domain.com/articles.php?show ... ticle_name to http://www.domain.com/articles/showarti ... ticle_name


can some one please help with this?
